Meet Our Leaders

2nd Streetsville Scout Group has a leadership with over 50 years of combined experience.

When Baden Powell began the scouting movement, he asked his friend Rudyard Kipling for permission to use the character names in the children's book called The Jungle Book as a way to identify scout leaders. In Cub Scouts, "Akela" is a symbol of wisdom and authority.

That's "Chil" above on the right. Chil is a Kite (a cousin of the hawk) in The Jungle Book. Chil was once himself a Cub Scout in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As you can see, even though he is all grown up now, Chil is still a boy at heart!

Meet "Kaa" another one of our Cub Scout leaders.

This is Scouter Filipina on the left and Sunshine on the right who is one of our Beaver leaders.

'Mang', on the left, knows how to grab everyone's attention. Mang started out as a cub in 2nd Streetsville and now takes on a leadership role with both Beavers and Scouts.

'Baloo' is on Mang's right. For her, scouting is also a family affair. Her dad was
cub leader with the group for many years.

That's Darrell up there on the left. As well as running his own camping equipment business during the day, he is the group's treasurer. Scouter Darrell is one of our Scout leaders.

2nd Streetsville Leadership Alumni:

Hanna was following in the footsteps of her grandmother, who was also a scout leader, when she joined our Beaver troop. Sadly Hanna had to quit to focus more on her studies in Early Childhood Education.

For Rainbow scouting was a family affair. Her grandfather was one of the group's
Scout Leaders for many years.

With over 50 years in Scouting, Roy was a long time volunteer with 2nd Streetsville
before his retirement in 2012.

Harold Barlett, or Baloo as he was known, went home a few years
ago and is greatly missed by all.

Marg Hill served as the group's 'Akela' for many years. Sometimes we feel lost without her!

Renee or 'Raksha' provided a quiet counterbalance to the rest of the boisterous
2nd Streetsville leadership team.

Ram or 'TicTac' helping out at camp in this photo. Ram left the group to pursue political
aspirations and is now working with another scout group that is a little closer to home.
